We believe in wet noses, droopy ears, and tennis balls. We’re devoted to dogs, and we know you are, too. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to take care of your furry family members whenever you can’t.

Meet the Owner 

Shawna Stouder is the leader of the pack at Happy Hounds Hotel and a lifelong dog lover. After a career in healthcare, she took a leap of four-legged faith and started the business she’d long dreamt about. It’s a “tail” as old as time. 

Everything came together when she found the perfect property, one that was already zoned for boarding and had enough acreage for the pitter-patter of puppy-dog feet. She got to work taking it to the next level—welded-wire kennels, spray foam insulation, ductless heating and air conditioning, and a buried no-climb fence. The result is an outdoor/indoor wonderland that focuses on safety and fun. 

When not managing Happy Hounds, Shawna enjoys crafting, enrichment games, quilting, pet therapy, flyball, and keeping up with her grandchildren. She currently has four dogs of her own—two 14-year-old chihuahuas, an Irish setter, and a border collie/terrier. She considers fur on her clothing a fashion accessory, and she hasn’t needed an alarm clock in years.
